Dreamy Hollow

Wilting flowers
Pepper’d by salt,
Folding in reverse
For blight’d home.

Choke’d roots
Unbound by time,
‘Round deepest sleeper’s dream,
Crawling free.

Under the canopy shade
Of strangling boughs,
Undaunt’d is the Ivory Queen
Keeper of the Weeping Tree.

Red and white petals
Bruis’d by graceless step
Tremble without end
At the stifling white.

Spreading haze
From the Dreaming Tree
Winces in silence at the
Solace of a still heart.

Pitiless moon
Hush’d and smother’d blue
By maternal embrace
Hangs above bitter bark.

A still heart
Is solace,
Flowering over
Turgid leaves.

Fuddl’d eye on root, peer’d through all,
Blench’d under the quiet white;
Festal is the Ivory Queen,
White Mother of Halcyon Days.
